Family Dispute Leads to Police Chase in CaldwellApril 6, 2026

A 21-year-old suspect, E. Zufelt, had threatened his family before attempting to hit them with his vehicle in Caldwell, Idaho. Caldwell Police responded to a family dispute that later turned into a police chase. Zufelt left the residence, then returned and reportedly began threatening his father with a knife. When Zufelt started driving toward the front yard where his father and others were standing, a police officer moved their patrol vehicle to stop Zufelt from intentionally striking the bystanders. Zufelt's vehicle made contact with the police vehicle before he fled at a high rate of speed. The pursuit ended when Zufelt's vehicle became inoperable, and he surrendered to officers. Zufelt was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and is facing several charges, including eluding, aggravated assault, DUI, and resisting and obstructing.
